I took Nelson to RPA Hospital late this afternoon for the much awaited MRI scan (no results as yet). Meanwhile, my fabulous father had an afternoon with Darius, gave him dinner, a bath, stories then put him to bed - phew!
We arrived in plenty of time and miraculously, managed an easy carparking space!
Nelson was fine inside the big scanning machine on his own and stayed very still for over half an hour. I could hear the weird noises it makes from the reception waiting area. Afterwards he smiled and said he'd had quite a nice nap! When he had one in NZ I had to go into the room with him to keep him calm and stop him moving around.
Since it was about 6pm by the time the scan was finished, we decided to have dinner in Newtown. Nelson was very interested in looking in the newsagent window, and had a great time in a funky "designer everything" shop.
We ate a lovely dinner at "The Happy Chef" then by 7pm Nelson was absolutely exhausted (his bedtime is normally 6pm) and also unable to deal with the by then much increased noise in the restaurant.
It was great to do something so normal with him!!
When we got back to the home he undressed and crawled straight into bed, giving me the rare opportunity to put cream on his legs and feet before he drifted off to sleep.
